  10. You should checkout JoJo. Remember she went platinum at 13 with the song Leave (get out) almost 10 years ago. Now she has so much more control and power over her voice and she sounds absolutely amazing. She did a small tour about a month ago you should check out the videos starting with JoJo Never Say Goodbye Seattle and see the consistency from song to song and city to city.

  15. I wonder what you have to say about Streisand? I am not a huge fan of hers, but I am curious as to what made her voice great? I believe her very fine use of vibrato has something to do with her ability to seemingly spin notes off into space, but I am curious about her other qualities. Obviously I need your expertise.

    A list:
    John Legend
    MIchael Buble

    Justin Timeburlake
    Chris Colfer
    Sam Smith
    Mitch Grassi
    Gerard Way
    Billy Joel
Just a "few" suggestions... lol I obviouslyd in't expect you to do them all, but I really enjoy your blog, and god knows i'd much rather hear about these singers rather than Zayn Malik

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I would like to see Adam Lambert profiled as well. I can't see Chris Colfer being a A list though.....

      Delete
    2. No offense but several of the singers you list as A-list are no where near:
Chris Colfer: I don't know if there's more than a few songs that he sings live so I it's not possible to comment on that, but I don't get the feeling that he's an incredibly skilled vocalist. He has an incredibly unique, and at times, beautiful voice, but since he hardly ever sings live it's hard to know how much of that is studio magic. I do love his rendition of "As If We Never Said Goodbye" however.
Darren Criss is not a very good singer at all; he has little to no vibrato, always sounds strained at the ends of his range, and is awfully pitchy live. Honestly, I would consider him a D list singer, but that's mostly because every live recording I've heard from him I have to turn off because it bothers my ears so much from pitch problems.
Josh Groban is ok, but by no means fantastic.
Mitch Grassi has a really unique voice somewhat similar to Chris Colfer, but I find his voice to be less androgynous. Both of them can be so piercing they're hard to listen to, but yet at other times incredibly beautiful. At least Mitch Grassi seems to have more technical skill than Colfer - I'm guessing he has perfect pitch.
Paul McCartney could very well be A list, but I don't think his technical skill could put him at star level.
If we're going by sheer technical skill Adam Lambert should get thrown into the Star List, especially going by his more recent work where he's ironed out more of his pitch problems and taken out the excessive vocal gymnastics. Not that vocal gymnastics aren't fun to listen to, but they can be tasteless when overdone.

  108. Please make a vocal range and profile for Jon Bon Jovi, Steven Tyler and Kurt Cobain it would be awesome :D

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'm sorry, but what's with the lack of men on this website? Sure, they're not very important in music now, but there are all kinds of old singers who's profiles I would appreciate seeing, like Elvis, or Frank Sinatra. From the beginning of the website (at least rage comment section) three names are constantly requested but always denied: Freddie Murcury, Bruno Mars, and Adam Lambert. It's a little ridiculous that you've played your readers this long.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Have you checked Mitch Grassi from Pentatonix? He's got quite the range and he apparently reaches a B7 note and his lowest is F#2.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjNJL00Y8xs

This video could be wrong, but he's such a popular singer at the moment and his range is magnificent I think you should totally do a profile on him!

  167. Hi, could you please do a vocal profile of Loic Nottet, an incredible Belgian singer with a high voice (powerful belting)? His new single is called Million Eyes. Thanks!

  170. It would be awesome if you'd check on Marina & The Diamonds.
She doesn't sound like a copycat (at least in her first and third album), has an unique voice and her songwriting is pretty awesome.
    Greetings.

  171. What about Natalie Cole? She is as talented as Aretha and deserves to be on this website!
